Our Parks & Gardens

It’s somewhere here you’ll probably find one of us, accompanied by our co-worker.
One of the first (and ongoing) projects started the same week we moved down, namely in the gardens.
Literally everything (apart from the original trees and hedges) has either been cleared away, been moved, or re-designed. Every executed project is done for one reason, that is to re-create and By adding character traits from the 16th-19th century coherent with the different timelines of the buildings we want to recreate and preserve, let’s say a more historic environment.
All the overgrowned main pathways and courtyards have been cleared from weeds and covered with new gravel. We’ve also found and unearthed lovely paving stones, perfectly layed beside and around the old buildings.

A collection of new perennials, seeds, bulbs, shrubs and trees have been purchased during the first year, a lot of them now developed and multiplied to adorn and exstend further areas.
It’s a great challenge to undertake such large areas -and also to maintain them… It needs ongoing commitment and a great deal of passion. Concidering the fact that we are only two people working in the gardens & park (fields and forrest included) we’ve come a long way, and it does help that one of us has worked here for several years as a gardener, and the other as a garden designer -both passionate about our profession.

Subject to availability you can buy a package of ready mixed flower seed (Jachère de fleurs) picked in the gardens of Chateau de Fins.

During your stay, please feel free to visit us in the walled garden & Potager.
